Mika’s 10th single in the UK is a track called “Kick Ass”and well, the song is a great Mika pop track and it kicks ass! The song is the theme song for the movie with the same name, and will be on the movie’s soundtrack. It is not on Mika’s latest album, The Boy Who Knew Too Much, but would fit brilliantly. I really like positive affirmations in the song, and the theme of the video.
When it comes to pop music, Mika is one of my favorites. One of my favorite tracks on The Boy Who Knew Too Much is a brilliant song called “Rain”. It was the second single from the album, and his first to miss the top 40 in the UK, which is unfortunate. The song has a great 80’s vibe, and starts of a bit creepy. I appreciate the lyrics of the song, and that they are a bit darker than most pop tracks from Mika. Even with the dark lyrics, the track is still upbeat and makes me want to dance, or attempt to dance.
The video is very interesting -- it is circus themed, but a bit twisted. It fits the song -- it’s fun, but also dark at the same time.
If you are a fan of pop music, shameless, unadulterated pop music, I highly recommend you pick up a copy of Mika’s work, especially his debut album, Life In Cartoon Motion.
